TRACKS is a play on words - stereo soundtracks coupled with railway tracks.

From the 1980s onwards, Video 125’s cameras have roamed the country filming our renowned Driver’s eye views. Although filmed in standard definition, the sound has always been recorded in high definition. Throughout that time we were using full broadcast quality microphones and recording equipment, giving us a unique opportunity to reproduce the sounds of first generation diesel multiple units (DMUs) going about their workaday business.

As well as first generation DMUs such as the ubiquitous class 101, we see single units, 2, 3 and 4 car trains of various combinations, many hotchpotches lashed together to make up serviceable trains with a dearth of new rolling stock towards the end of BR. There are units on main lines and branch lines mainly in blue and grey and Network SouthEast livery. We’ve also included a few preserved units in green. There’s also a section on DEMUs (Diesel Electric Multiple Units) with their unique and distinctive sound – brilliant in stereo!

Many shots have never been seen before, others may be familiar from our Driver’s eye views but were hitherto cut short. We’ve purposely allowed some shots to linger long to create the nostalgic atmosphere of these never to be forgotten DMUs in BR service.

*Some of these were included in Driver's eye view productions, but often cut short. Many of the shots have never been shown before.

HST Tracks - The Valenta Scream

HST Tracks - The Valenta Scream

Ref: VI310D

Price:£10.00

From the 1970s to the 2000s, all Britain's best loved Intercity trains, (the ubiquitous HST High Speed Trains) were powered by Paxman Valenta diesel engines with their unique sound. Today these have been replaced by newer engines so no longer can one hear the iconic HSTs "scream" past.

Video 125 cameras happened to capture the sounds (and sights) of these iconic trains during their heyday, and this programme is a compilation of dozens of shots taken from our archive depicting various locations around the country. A series of runbys, without commentary, is not everybody's cup of tea but for those who lament the passing of these nostalgic sounds, this film will bring back happy lineside and platform memories.

Running time is 84 minutes and includes dozens of locations, all featuring HSTs from BR, GNER, Midland Mainline, Virgin Trains and First Great Western filmed between 1986 and 2006.* All soundtracks are 100% in broadcast-quality stereo.

*Some of these were included in Driver's eye view productions, but often cut short. Many of the shots have never been shown before.

TGV Tracks

TGV Tracks

Ref: VI333D

Price:£10.00

Once again we've raided our extensive archives to feature the sounds and sights of the TGV Train à Grande Vitesse or high speed train. As with any filming, cameras rolled many more times and for much longer than were used in the finished productions. Here is a fascinating variety of shots captured of the iconic trains running in France, Belgium and Italy for our various European productions.

TRACKS is a play on words. It's as much about the soundTRACKS as the railway TRACKS. All sequences feature digital stereo sound. Many of the shots last longer than normal to create the feeling!

There are over 100 shots and sequences of the different types of TGV from single to double deck, TGV Sud-Est (since withdrawn from service) TGV Atlantique, TGV Réseau, TGV Duplex and TGV POS.

As well as SNCF there are also Eurostar class 373 (original units) plus maroon Thalys and even a couple of DB ICEs.

There is no commentary, just location names.

Sound tracks (with pictures).

Long before the invention of YouTube and smartphones, Video 125 cameras were out and about filming the London Underground for our Driver’s eye view videos.

Although mainly filmed in standard definition, the sound was a different matter.

100% of the time we were using full broadcast television standard microphones and recording equipment. This means that long-since scrapped 1959, 1962 and 1967 tube stock on the Central, Northern and Victoria lines can still be heard in full stereo sound. The long-since scrapped A, C and D sub-surface stock on the Hammersmith & City, Circle, District and Metropolitan, lines also heavily feature in this unique video production filmed between 1988 and 2014.

Not only can you relive the nostalgic sounds but you will also see the video footage too! Unpainted aluminium and mid-life refurbished stock as well as trains still in service in 2020. There are even a couple of surprises, such as the 1938 tube stock filmed on the Isle of Wight.

Many shots have not been seen or heard since the day they were filmed. Others that were used in Driver’s eye views are now shown in their entirety, rather than being edited. Some shots linger long, to provide the unique atmosphere of the London Underground.
