Imagine you are in war time Dundee. You are in the audience in Green's Playhouse for a film show about the city, beginning with a short film celebrating the opening of the cinema in 1936.

"Dundee" (1939), in which a visitor to the city learns about the city's origins, was premiered on 3rd.Spetember 1939, but abandoned midway through when the outbreak of World War 2 was announced.

"Tay Bridge Disaster of 1879" is Ian Rintoul's reconstruction of the disaster, followed by a rare and recently restored film of 1897 of a train ride over the new Tay bridge.

The show closes with "Children of the City" (1943), a look at war time Dundee as men and women struggle with the twin responsibilities of their families and the war effort.
