Rail Reflections 22 (105-mins) (DVD-R)

Ref: EF122D

Volume 22 West Coast Main Line No.1- Filmed between 1992 and 2005 this DVD is filmed entirely on the WCML showing changes and comparisons that have taken place along this route. With the introduction of Voyager and Pendolinos much of what we had come to associate with this route is now part of history.

Part 1 - Features footage filmed in the early 1990s We take in Glascote, Norton Bridge, Rugeley, Winwick Junction, Warrington Quay and Acton Bridge showing loco hauled, freight and unit workings. Part 2 - All Change at Rugby No one can deny Rugby station has changed beyond almost all recognition and now it is an acceptable location for photography. This has not always been so as we compare film from 1992 with footage taken earlier this summer. Sadly the variety of haulage does not match the new surroundings, but we can roll back the years and still see this line in it’s heyday and reflect the loco hauled days. Part 3 An atmospheric 1997 rainy day turns brighter as we see a procession of workings through Bank Quay station. There are as many varieties of livery as there are locos. As the day passes by we see Classes: 08, 20, 31, 37, 43, 47, 56, 58, 60, 86, 87, 90, 92 plus a mixture of units...a great day out.

Part 4 - Carstairs Junction 2005 This unique location where you can see WCML and ECML workings was visited during Spring 2005. We see a mixture of freight workings including DRS, Class 91s, 37s 60s, and 66s. A Royal Scotsman Class 37 is seen on driver training plus a mixture of regional units passing through.

Volume 23: South East England No. 1 London and the South East has always been synonymous for it’s own fleet of locos. and specialised workings. In this all archive DVD we look at parts of London’s busy freight locations and it’s near surroundings to recall British Rails halcyon days.

Part 1 - 1996 Starts at Acton Main Line in May 1996 featuring much freight including Classes 37, 47, 58, 59 and 60. At this time Mainline Blue liveries were new and the old style ARC and Yeoman colours were still evident. Moving on to Wandsworth Road Classes 33, 47 Eurostars and Units hard at work.

Part 2 - 1995 A return to Acton Main Line a year earlier in May 1995 once again shows a wide variety of traction passing by. plus an appearance of a Merchant Navy Class steam loco on a running in turn. Another look at Wandsworth Road in 1995 makes interesting viewing compared to what was seen a year earlier. Then venturing down to Kensington Olympia we see a mixture of freight, units and Eurostars passing by. This is followed by a session at Clapham Jct. and a quick look around Hither Green Depot, before an interesting stint at Ashford. Our next port of call is Tonbridge Yard and the nearby station followed by Eastleigh and Willesden Jct.

Part 3 - June 1995 Another visit to Kensington Olympia brings back happy memories of the Southern at its best. Class 33s, 47s, 58s, 59s, and 60s are a plenty

Part 4 - 1991 Wonderful night time scenes at Eastleigh open this part and it is a busy time for freight and unusual workings. Part 3 New Barnetby August 1990. Filmed from the level crossing bridge when 31s and 47s still worked the oil trains and 37s were on the ore.

Part 4 Elsham August 1991 The station was still open as freight and units thunder by. Class 56 and 37s in large numbers.

Part 5 Barnetby 1990/1992, Immingham 1990 and Brocklesby 1989 Freight and long gone locos. everywhere including Classes 20, 31, 47, 56, 58. and 47401 makes another appearance, this time in large logo blue. Look out for the green Class 20s on a double headed working. Plus Class the 31 with the original Cricklewood nameplates.

Part 6 - Wrawby & Barnetby 1998 Various scenes at these locations make for good comparisons to the earlier footage, by now Loadhaul Black, Mainline Blue and Transrail liveries are around. EWS has also started painting some of their fleet, examples of all are to be seen.

Part 7 - Gilberdyke 1993 & 2005 Fascinating to see the changes over a decade, with all the new liveries, By 2005 Hull Trains have arrived and as a bonus the Royal Train passes in 1993 with Prince Henry in charge.

Part 8 Ulceby 1995, Crowle 1995, Brockesby 1990. Fond memories of the freight fleet at its best. We see Class 37s on rosters long since transferred or lost. Class 60s with nameplates and so much more Part 9 Foreign Ore Jct., Santon Incline and Barnetby Top 1995

Almost all heavy haul freight in these now almost un photographic locations as the fences arrived or the trees have taken over.

Volume 25: West Coast Main Line No.2 In this the second part of our look at the West Coast Main Line we take a look at the popular locations filmed between 1990 and 2005

Part 1 - Carlisle and North 2005 The bulk of this part is filmed early 2005 on Carlisle station which makes interesting comparisons to the earlier footage shown on West Coast Main Line No. The Class 66s have arrived and a good mix of operating companies is evident here. Pendolinos and Voyagers have replaced the old electrics and we can see the transformation is complete. In this part we also tale a look at Lockerbie Station with at least the old order being represented by a pair of Railfreight Class 86

Part 2 - Crewe Station and Depot 1992 As well as the everyday excitement on Crewe Station we take a look around the depot when many classes of loco. were on shed. Many Class 47s including RES liveries

Part 3 - Preston & Warrington 1997 Still a good mixture of locomotive workings at Preston Station and similar sights are to be seen at the bridge just South of Winwick Junction

Part 4 - Around Rugeley 1991 Wonderful summer day sightings at Rugeley, Wolseley Bridge and Colwich Junction

Part 5 - Crewe 1990 As requested we are always happy to show sights of Crewe Station in its’ heyday and this visit offers just that with a wide variety of favourite locos.

Part 6 - Rugeley and Crewe Stations 1995 High speed shots at Rugeley show the old electrics at their best and this continues at Crewe with a typical classic day out when it was a spotters paradise

Part 7 - Nuneaton 2005 Just to prove there is still much to be seen in the modern railway, watch the freight, passenger and engineers workings at this busy cross country junction

Part 8 - Stafford 1995 As usual Stafford in the 1990s was a joy, it still is when you watch this part, sit back and enjoy.

Volume 26: The Midland Route No.1 Another all archive DVD for you to recall the better days of our railway scene. All the footage featured is filmed on former Midland metals spanning mid Yorkshire down to just south of Derby. Most of the traction is now part of history as are many of the workings and locations, especially for photographic purposes.

Part 1 - July 1990 Long gone traffic scenes from Chesterfield Goods Yard, Duffield, Clay Cross, Aldwarke Junction, Tapton Junction., and Kilnhurst. It is impossible to film from the exact location shown at any of these locations

Part 2 - Midland Lines in The Midlands (Filmed 1990/91/96) Again we see much freight and passenger rosters that are now only part of our memories, with extra interest watching Class 47/9s and Res workings. Willington power station was still operational and a mainline Class 58 is seen entering. We visit Kingsbury ( Class 37s reversing into the plant) Findern, Stenson Jct., Lickey Bank, Water Orton and Tamworth High Level

Part 3 - Midland Lines in Yorkshire The amount of coal that worked on these lines was outstanding with Classes 20, 56 and 58s seemingly everywhere. Class 47s worked the Cross Country services from Newcastle to Penzance and Liverpool and engineers trains still ran in daylight hours. Parcels trains were to be seen and Class 31s were still used in a variety of duties. In this part we look at Ackworth (1991), Treeton (1991), Brimington (1990), Killamarsh (1990), Aldwarke Jct. (1989), Monk Fryston (1995), Parkgate (1995), Rawmarsh (1991), Moorthorpe (1991), Burton Salmon (1991), Clayton (1991), Sheffield (1990)

Volume 27 South Wales & The West This all archive DVD turns back time to look at how our railways operated during the 1990s. Cardiff and Newport have always been favourites amongst sighting enthusiasts and we make no apologies to dedicating the bulk of this volume to these popular locations. Taking time off to venture into Western heartland we also take a couple of dates recalling the better days at Westbury.

Part 1 - Cardiff 27 May 1996 Pre-EWS days when freight locos. carried original two tone grey sector liveries plus the short lived Transrail, Loadhaul and Mainline colours, we see the typical South Wales mixture of Classes 08/09/31/37/43/47/56 and 59s working coal, steel , petroleum and various other freights.

Part 2 - Newport 28 May 1996 The following day we see workings of a similar nature a few miles away in Newport, The stabling point is packed with Class 37 and 56s and we see shunters moving stock around the station

Part 3 - Westbury 28 June 1991 Old style 59 and HST Class 43 liveries are abound as we look at passenger, stone and petroleum workings through the station

Part 4 - Cardiff 25 August 1993 With Class 37s and 56s working virtually everything, enjoy the sights and sounds of yesteryear and recall the Mirlees engined 37s when the still carried names

Part 5 - Westbury 28 August 1992 Class 47s still working passenger services and Cardiff dedicated 56s around remind us of the great days out enjoyed at this location

Part 6 - Cardiff and Newport 2nd and 3rd June 1998 A vast mixture of liveries to be seen here, including Loadhaul, Mainline, Transrail, grey/yellow engineers, both BSC Class 60s, two DRS blue 37s, Res parcels etc. compelling viewing every enthusiast will watch time and time again

Volume 32 During September 2007 Jon Byne ventured out with a five day Rail Rover ticket covering the Heart of England region. Based overnight at Rugby it made an ideal location to start and end each day and find easy access to travel within the tickets capabilities. This DVD traces each day and what was seen.

Day One: 3rd September Start Rugby 11:45 Departed 20:45. The day was spent on Rugby Station platforms, we witnessed the usual large variety of freight and passenger workings

Day Two: 4th September Start Rugby 08:30 Departed 21:20 During the day we visited

Birmingham New Street, Tame Bridge, Walsall,Stafford, Crewe, and Back to Rugby

Unfortunately Crewe is not the location as seen on earlier Reflections series, but the change in traction does make interesting comparisons

DayThree: 5th September Start Rugby 08:45 Departed Clapham Jct. 18:15 Visits include: Northampton, Willesden High Level, Clapham Jct. and back to Rugby

Day Four 6th September Start Rugby 08:20 day end at Rugby 20:30. Our travels included: Coventry, Oxford, Didcot and back to Rugby

Rail Reflections 33 (105-mins) (DVD-R)

Ref: EF133D

Volume 33 is an all archive film covering the 1990/1991 period. It features, locomotives, liveries and locations that have changed in every way or are no longer with us. The footage filmed in Northern England covers areas around Yorkshire, Cleveland, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and North Derbyshire

Part 1 - August 1990: This section starts with Class 37s slowing for signals at Parkgate, then moves on to Chesterfield, Clay Mills, Elford, Kilnhurst, Loughborough, Chesterfield Goods, Kirk Sandall, Parkgate, New Mills, Hasland, Bolton Percy, Hexthorpe, Newark, Long Eaton, Thornaby, York Station,

Part 2 - May1990: Opening with Class 47s on passenger at Clay Cross, our next port of calls are: Shirebrrok (Depot) Elmton & Cresswell, Whitwell, Avenue Sidings and Tupton

Part 3 - April 1991: Starting at Chesterfield Station our April travels take us to Tinsley, Alciwarke, Foreign Ore Jct., Elsham, Appleby Station Site, Hillam Gates,

Part 4 - March 1991: Our first views show freight at Copmanthorpe, then onto South Milford, Barnetby, Elsham Station, Appleby Goods Yard, Market Rasen

Much of the footage is freight and the way this has changed or gone from the timetables is astonishing. You see cross country passenger workings, Trans-Pennine loco. hauled sets and parcels with dedicated Class 47s etc.

Even trying to recreate shots at the same locations is now almost impossible as tree growth, high fencing and even complete removal of land has taken place.

The vast majority of the stock has been withdrawn, sold or even cut up making this series invaluable to enthusiasts who care to remember our railways as they were.
